Data Storytelling in R

The Oakland A’s had to replace a star they couldn’t afford to keep, so they went looking for the same production hidden in players nobody was bidding on. I parsed decades of baseball statistics in R to run that search again.

The second project mapped national corruption indices against human development outcomes in ggplot2, which is a much heavier subject and the same job underneath.

Both are about turning a messy dataset into an argument someone can act on. That’s most of what data driven strategy means once you take the phrase apart, and I’d rather have learned it on baseball than on a quarterly deck.
